Why study Spanish in Uruguay?
Uruguay is calm, safe-feeling and easy to get around, with a clear, friendly Rioplatense accent. Daily life gives you constant, low-pressure chances to practise — at cafés, markets and along the Rambla.
Is Uruguayan Spanish different from other Spanish?
It is standard Spanish with Rioplatense features: 'vos' instead of 'tú', a distinctive 'sh' sound for 'll' and 'y', and local expressions. Everything you learn is understood across the Spanish-speaking world.
Levels
Can I start as a complete beginner?
Yes. La Herradura lists courses for all levels, from complete beginner to advanced. Your level is assessed so you join a suitable group or plan.
Duration
How long should I study?
Even one week of intensive study makes a difference. For lasting conversational confidence, many learners plan several weeks or continue with flexible lessons. The school can advise based on your goals.
Intensive
What does the intensive course involve?
Twenty hours per week, Monday to Friday, four hours a day, in groups of up to six students, combining grammar, conversation and practical Spanish.
Private
Are private lessons available?
Yes — a private course of 10 hours per week, flexible expat private lessons charged per hour, and online private lessons.
Group
How big are the groups?
La Herradura states a maximum of six students per group.
Online
Can I study online before I arrive?
Yes. Online lessons are offered with flexible scheduling and personalized content — a good way to prepare before moving or to continue after a stay.
Locations
Where can I study in Montevideo?
La Herradura's Montevideo school is at Colonia 2235, Flex 360. Visits are by appointment.
Where can I study in Punta del Este?
The Punta del Este school is at Calle 24, El Mesana. Please confirm which courses are running there for your dates.
Is every course available in both cities?
Not necessarily. Course availability depends on location and dates. Always ask the school to confirm before planning your trip.
Prices
Are the prices on Spanish.uy final?
No. Prices are estimates based on reference values in USD. The school confirms the current price, availability and any extra costs when you contact them.
Is there a discount for booking?
Occasionally a booking offer may be available. When an approved offer is active, the calculator shows it automatically. Only the school can confirm it.

Booking
Is my calculator result a booking?
No. A booking only exists once the school confirms availability and accepts it. Spanish.uy does not take bookings or payments.

No. The calculator and course finder run entirely in your browser and nothing is sent to or stored by Spanish.uy. See our privacy policy for details.
