Learn Spanish in Uruguay

Why learn Spanish here?

Uruguay is one of South America's quietest surprises — a small, easygoing country where Spanish is part of every daily moment.

An easy place to start

Uruguay has a reputation for being calm, orderly and friendly. Buses run, streets are walkable, and people take time to talk. For a learner, that matters: you can practise without feeling rushed.

English is spoken in some places, but not everywhere — which nudges you to use Spanish for real tasks from the first day.

02

The Rioplatense voice

Uruguayans speak Rioplatense Spanish: vos instead of tú, a soft “sh” sound for ll and y, and a melodic intonation. Classes teach standard grammar, and your ear learns the local sound naturally. Everything is understood across the Spanish-speaking world.

What learning feels like

Expect small groups — the school caps groups at six students — and a communication-first approach: grammar explained clearly, then used straight away in conversation and real-life situations.

After class, the city does the rest: ordering a cortado, asking for directions, chatting at the feria.

Two places to study

Montevideo offers a capital's culture, cafés and neighbourhoods. Punta del Este offers beaches and an easy coastal pace. Course availability differs by location and dates, so confirm with the school.
